Anna Winston

I am an award-winning writer, editor, teacher and consultant with more than 10 years' experience in architecture and design. My current design obsessions are death, cutlery and childhood.

I live in Antwerp, but also spend a big chunk of the year in London – my hometown – and Eindhoven, where I studied at Design Academy Eindhoven.

I’m currently working on a number of research projects and my first book, alongside freelance writing and consultancy. I teach writing as a design tool at Chelsea College of Art in London and am chief editor at Design Academy Eindhoven.

I was previously the editor of Dezeen – the world's biggest architecture and design site. I launched the title's first international office in New York and grew its readership to more than 2.3 million a month. I was also head of digital for Building Design and BDonline in the UK and design editor of Oak The Nordic Journal in Denmark. 

I’ve been named digital editor of the year twice by the British Society of Magazine Editors and my work has been published in a wide variety of titles including Icon, Monocle Travel Guides, Grand Designs, The Architectural Review, 1stDibs, The Guardian, The Evening Standard and Stylist.

Before specialising in design, I was an entertainment journalist, and as a result I have interviewed a very wide range of people from Rob Zombie to Richard Rogers.

I occasionally work with selected brands as a consultant. I have helped companies discover fresh design talent, breathe new life into their existing products through storytelling and connect with their partners and customers through intelligent, honest communication strategies. I can advise on digital and print content strategies as well as social media and digital marketing concepts.
